Deaths from snow in Europe reach 20

(MENAFN) Heavy snow has interrupted access to villages, flooded the inside of a Swiss hotel and led during the last week to over 20 weather-related deaths in Europe.

According to the Bulgarian Red Cross, two snowboarders have died in a flood in southwest Bulgaria's Pirin Mountains.

The driver of a snow plough also died in Germany after his vehicle fell into an icy river, while in Albania, the Energy Ministry said a power company employee suffered a deadly heart attack while repairing damaged supply lines.

Around 2,000 soldiers and other emergency workers in Albania were assigned to help people trapped by snow and to clear roads to restore access to rural areas.
