Tunisia grants private sector role in wind energy


(MENAFN) Tunisia's private sector was announced to have been granted permission to make investments in the generation of wind enrgy.

Licenses were presented by the Tunisian Ministry of Industry and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises to 4 international firms.

The companies, unveiled as ABO WIND AG, UPC Tunisia Renewables, LUCIA HOLDING and VSB Energies Nouvelles, generate power from wind, using a 120 Megawatt production capacity.

Prime Minister Youssef Chahed affirmed that "the government made considerable efforts in order to develop the legal and organisational aspects of the sector."
