Malaysia bans Israelis from Para-Swimming Championships

(MENAFN) Malaysia prohibited all Israelis from competing in the 2019 World Para-Swimming Championships, emphasizing: "we will not allow them. If they come, then it is an offense".

Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad explained the ban to have been in support of the Palestinian cause.

The prime minister stressed that "if they want to withdraw the championship hosting rights from Malaysia, then they can try to do so."

Mohamad further underlined the intensified pressure the country is facing from the Israeli Olympic Committee as well as the International Paralympic Committee over the move.
