(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Timely and effective reorientation to the European market has given Ukrainian economy completely new opportunities, and now more than 42% of Ukrainian exports go to the EU countries.
President Petro Poroshenko said this during a meeting with residents of Zdolbuniv in Rivne region, the press service of the head of state reported.
'Ukraine managed to secure the ratification and launch of the Association Agreement, as well as the free trade area, which has already led to the fact that more than 42% of Ukrainian exports go to the EU. This is a good response to the fact that Russia has declared an embargo and closed all its markets since 2013 for all Ukrainian producers, Poroshenko said.
According to him, the goal of Russia was to bring our country to economic decline.
'Russia did this in order to strangle Ukraine economically and throw millions of Ukrainians out of jobs, primarily in the east of our state. It first hit Russian-speaking Ukrainians. Only timely and effective reorientation to the European market gave our exports and the entire economy a whole new opportunity, the president noted.
He expressed hope that Ukrainian exports to the EU countries 'will reach 50%' in the near future.
