A greenhouse complex for growing vegetables was commissioned in Mary province of Turkmenistan.

According to Turkmen media, the facility covers an area of 8 hectares and is designed to supply 500 tons of products to consumers annually. In the greenhouse, systems for maintaining temperature and light, humidity and saturation of the soil with nutrients are automated.

A feature of the complex is that an apiary is located on its territory, the bees will be used for pollination of agricultural crops.

At the same time, the opening ceremony of an enterprise for the production of plastic bags and polypropylene pipes took place in the city of Bayramali, Mary province. Its technological line is designed to produce 1,800 tons of film and 257 tons of water pipes with a diameter of 20-60 mm.

Raw materials for the enterprise come from a polymer plant in the village of Kiyanly and from the Turkmenbashi complex of oil refineries.

The specifics of the Turkmen economy are determined by several factors.

First, it is the presence of large reserves of natural resources. Secondly, the country has a closed type of economy: foreign investors are allowed only in difficult for mining deposits. Thirdly, Turkmenistan is geographically closed: it has no access to the sea and it isdifficult to promote Turkmen hydrocarbons on the world market.

The main industries are the extraction and processing of natural gas and oil, electricity, the textile industry and construction.

According to the program of development of the Turkmen oil and gas industry for the period up to 2030, it is planned to increase oil production to 20 million tons by 2030 and natural gas production to 250 billion cubic meters per year.

A feature of the modern period of industrial development has been the accelerated growth of the processing industries: chemistry, petrochemistry, mechanical engineering and metalworking, light and food industries.

In addition to oil and gas, Turkmenistan has significant reserves of sulfur, iodine, bromine, mirabilite, lead, and various raw materials for the building and finishing industry.

In agriculture, the strategic sectors are cotton growing and grain growing.

Livestock is represented mainly by horse, sheep and camel breeding, cattle production is less developed.
