(MENAFN) Egypt denounced a plot to overthrow Gabon's President Ali Bongo Ondimba, who has been recovering from a stroke in Morocco.
Egypt expressed its strong condemnation to the coup attempt in Gabon in a statement the Egyptian Foreign Ministry issued.
The statement affirmed that "Egypt stands by the legitimate authority in Gabon in accordance with the African Union's governing principles."
It further urged all involved parties to hold respect for the rule of the law along with the constitution of Gabon.
