QatarDebate successfully organises EUADC 2019


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) QatarDebate Center, a member of Qatar Foundation (QF), successfully organised the European Universities Arabic Debating Championship, EUADC 2019, in the Austrian capital Vienna from January 3-5.
The event featured 20 universities representing 15 European countries.
The European Institute of human sciences team from Germany was awarded the championship title, while the Yalova University team from Turkey took second place.
The two teams debated the motion, ‘This House believes that the time has come to replace international laws with a single universal constitution'.
Dr Hayat Abdulla Maarafi, executive director of QatarDebate, in a statement yesterday said the tournament highlighted QD's keenness to promote Arabic language in debates in an effective way so as to influence young peoples' thoughts.
Aisha al-Nesf, head of Educational Programmes — QatarDebate , described the event as a 'diverse and wonderful gathering.
Abdulrahman al-Subaie, head of Outreach Programme — QatarDebate, said the centre has reached every spot in the world through the art of debate and expression of opinion, which is one of the pillars of human life.
'We had the opportunity to participate in the 4th International University Arabic Debating championship 2017 in Qatar, said Amel al-Rabai, head of Arabic Language at the European College of Humanities, Frankfurt.
She presented her idea to QatarDebate management to organise a European universities debate championship in Arabic, which resulted in the QatarDebate Center conducting the Vienna event.
