Yemen gov't accuses Houthis of not complying with Stockholm deal

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) JEDDAH, Jan 6 (KUNA) -- Yemen's President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi accused on Sunday the Houthi Militia of prolonging the peace process by not complying with the Stockholm agreement.

The Saudi news agency (SPA) quoted Hadi during his meeting in Riyadh with US Ambassador to Yemen Matthew Tueller as saying attacks by the Houthi militias on civilians were ongoing while they were also stealing and preventing relief aid from reaching the areas under their control to resell them in black markets.

Hadi called on the international community to make a stand and put pressure on the Houthi militias to stop these attacks on civilians and leave the port city of Hodeida and hand over all ports as agreed upon in Stockholm.

On his part, the US ambassador assured his country's support to Yemen's security, stability, unification, and its constitutional legitimacy while also stressing the importance of implementing the Stockholm agreement to restore the safety of all the provinces in Yemen.

Tueller praised the Yemeni government for their positive engagement during the meetings in search for a peaceful resolution. (end) nso.aq
