(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has brought the financial matters of all the departments of the tribal districts under its control.
Now all the development funds of the tribal departments will be issued by the Finance Ministry of the KP government. In this regard, the provincial government has issued notification to the deputy commissioners of all the districts. Principal accounts will be set up in all the districts and the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) will issue a specific code to every district for withdrawing funds.
According to a notification issued by the Local Government and Rural Development Department of KP, principal accounts will be opened in Khyber, Kurram, Bajaur, Orakzai, Mohmand, North Waziristan and South Waziristan tribal districts for obtaining funds. The State Bank will also issue codes to these districts after which the KP Finance Department will issue development funds to each tribal district from its account.
In May last year, former president Mamnoon Hussain had signed the 25th Constitutional Amendment Bill into law, thus merging Fata with KP. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government after coming into power expedited the merger of Fata with KP and Prime Minister Imran Khan also established a task force to ensure speedy merger. It was followed by the visits of the prime minister and other federal and provincial ministers to the tribal districts to oversee the merger process and announce development schemes. Several provincial ministers have so far visited the tribal districts and the provincial government has also announced to hold its next meeting in Khyber tribal district.
On Wednesday, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issued the initial delimitation list of the tribal districts in which it proposed the addition of 16 seats to KP Assembly from the eight newly-constituted districts.
Under the new delimitation formula, Bajaur and Khyber districts got three seats each; Kurrum, Mohmand, South Waziristan and North Waziristan districts got two seats each; while Orakzai and Frontier Region districts got one seat each in proportion to their population. Objections process on the delimitations will complete by the end of January and the whole process will be completed by 4 March. The KP government has already announced that it is prepared for the provincial and local bodies polls in the tribal districts.
