(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) MANSEHRA: One tourist lost his life and three others were hospitalised in critical condition due to accumulation of gas in their room in Naran on Friday.
Police said four friends from Abbottabad and Mansehra, Hasnain, Aamir, Umra Khan and Zeb Shah, had gone to Naran for winter vacations. They lighted coal in the room due to extreme cold weather and slept. Poisonous gas accumulated in the room due to which the four friends fainted.
All the friends were taken to King Abdullah Hospital in Mansehra, where Hasnain, a resident of Mira, Abbottabad, died. Hospital sources said the condition of Umar Khan was critical, while his other two friends are also under treatment. Police said the body of the deceased tourist was handed over to family members after post mortem.
Several people have died in different incidents of gas leakage and accumulation of poisonous gas in the room in different parts of the country during the last few days as people try to protect themselves from the extreme cold weather. Currently extreme cold wave is prevailing in most parts of the country.
The Met Office has predicted rain in Malakand, Hazara, Rawalpindi divisions, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, Peshawar, Kohat, Mardan, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Quetta, Zhob, Sargodha, Faisalabad and Gujranwala during the next 24 hours due to which cold will further increase. Snowfall over the mountains is also expected in Murree, Gilliyat, Malakand division, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.
Bomb recovered in Hangu
Police recovered a bomb and a mortar shell from the mountainous Sarak Dana area of Hangu on Thursday.
Police said they conducted an operation on a secret information and recovered a one kilogram improvised explosive device (IED) and a mortar shell and defused it. A case has been registered unknown culprits and further investigation is underway. The explosive material could have been used in some sabotage act.
Meanwhile, Sindh Rangers in an operation arrested 11 suspects involved in different crimes from various parts of Karachi.
The Rangers claimed that those arrested include extortionist, accused belonging to MQM-London, Lyari gang war, street criminals and dacoits. Weapons and snatched valuables have also been recovered from them.
