Jordan- AArU, Federation of Arab Women Leaders sign agreement

Amman, Dec. 23 (Petra) - The Association of Arab Universities (AArU) signed on Sunday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Federation of Arab Women Leaders to activate cooperation between the two parties in the field of women's issues in the Arab world.

The secretary-general of the AArU, Dr. Amr Salama, and the federation's secretary general, Dr. Hala Hussein, signed the memorandum.

Dr. Salama said the AArU seeks to coordinate the efforts of Arab higher education institutions and research centers to contribute in preparing a generation capable of serving their Arab societies and preserving their culture.

He added the AArU encourages the establishment of research centers, supports joint scientific research, and efforts to benefit from these projects to achieve Arab and international development plans in various fields.

The secretary-general of the federation said the MoU stressed the importance of enhancing joint action, and coordination of the Arab strategies adopted at the Arab summits, especially with regard to the women education in the Arab world.

She added the memorandum provides support to women through the implementation of sustainable development programs and the implementation of a number of joint projects and community initiatives that serve the Arab volunteer work.

She noted the agreement will provide databases for women's contributions in the field of innovation, creativity and scientific research.
