Oman- MoH issues guidelines to prevent dengue spread


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The Ministry of Health (MoH) has asked people to follow its guidelines to avoid dengue. In a statement, MoH said, 'Your detection and proper action will prevent the breeding of mosquitoes at sites.'

MoH has issued guidelines for citizens and residents to maintain hygiene around their houses, 'We ask everyone to keep water containers, and animal bird feeding pots clean. They should be cleaned with a brush every five days. It is also important to get rid of water from air conditioners and change water in coolers regularly.

'Also, water in swimming pools and fountains must be changed every five days. Keep saucers of potted plants dry. Water tanks must be covered properly and water trapped in old tyres and paint containers should be drained out.'

MoH had said that 33 dengue cases were reported this year. 'Of 33 cases, 30 were imported. Three contracted the virus locally and because of this, we have to be more concerned,' a ministry official had said.

MoH has conducted an investigation after the detection of a dengue fever case in Seeb. MoH in cooperation with Muscat Municipality is conducting a survey on the presence of Aedes aegypti mosquito responsible for transmitting dengue, yellow fever, Zika disease and other viral diseases.
