Sri Lanka- JVP makes push to abolish Executive Presidency


(MENAFN- Colombo Gazette) The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) today made a push to abolish the Executive Presidency.

In an adjournment motion in Parliament today, the JVP said that the latest developments in the country called for the urgent need to abolish the Executive Presidency.

The adjournment motion was presented by JVP Parliamentarian Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa.

The JVP has already submitted to Parliament the 20th Amendment to the Constitution which, if passed, will abolish the Executive Presidency. (Colombo Gazette)
