Official: Trump did not inform Erdogan of extraditing Gulen

(MENAFN) According to a senior White official, President Trump did not commit to extradite a Muslim cleric based in the United States, during a meeting with Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan at the G20 summit two weeks ago.

The official said: "while meeting with President Erdogan at the G20, the president did not commit to extradite Fethullah Gulen."

Erdogan accuses Gulen for a attempting a coup in 2016, when rogue soldiers commandeered tanks and helicopters, attacked parliament and shot unarmed civilians.

Turkey has long asked for the extradition of Gulen, who has lived in self-imposed U.S. exile for nearly two decades.
