Qatar ready for AFC Asian Cup, says Sanchez

Doha: Qatar coach Felix Sanchez said his players are raring to go as they enter the final stage of preparations before participating in the AFC Asian Cup 2019, which will be held from January 5 to February 1 in the UAE.

Qatar are placed in Group E along with Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and North Korea.

The national coach said at a press conference that the team will play four friendly matches against Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Algeria and Iran in the final phase of the preparation for Asian Cup. He said the friendly matches will be a good opportunity for players to prepare for the tough challenge.

Sanchez added that he had several options of friendly games and opted the four teams because they represent different schools in play.

On the team's ambition as they get ready to take part in Asian Cup, the Spaniard said that every team goes into any competition eyeing the title.

He stressed that the Qatari team's goal is no different, saying that Qatari fans have big hopes for the current batch of players.

The coach maintained that Qatar's group was a tough one, and that all the teams in it deserve their respect.
