Schlumberger celebrates 70 years in Qatar

DOHA: Schlumberger Qatar has reached an exciting milestone this year, by celebrating 70 years of successful partnership with Qatar's oil and gas industry. Schlumberger started its first operations in Qatar in the year 1948 with a well log of Dukhan 7. Ever since, the company's operations have been continuously expanding, and now boasts multinational staff representing 65 nationalities working together in Qatar.

Schlumberger is the world's leading provider of technology for reservoir characterization, drilling, production, and processing to the oil and gas industry.

Working in more than 85 countries, Schlumberger supplies the industry's most comprehensive range of products and services.

The 70th Anniversary of Schlumberger in Qatar was celebrated with a partnership recognition ceremony and an exhibition of its latest technology portfolio in the country.

This was also a recognition of the longstanding partnership between oil and gas companies and Schlumberger in Qatar. Several key technologies ranging from finding, drilling and producing hydrocarbon that are utilised in Qatar were on display.

While addressing the audience during the celebration H E Saad Sherida Al Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs, President and CEO of Qatar Petroleum, made special mention that Schlumberger is '… the eyes in the well. It has been a great relationship and partnership between Schlumberger and QP for a very long time.

As the world's leading provider of technology and oil field services, Schlumberger has introduced the most advanced technology to harness the hydrocarbon resources in Qatar.

Through the collaborative mindset and close partnership with oil field operators many records have been established in Qatar, including the World Record in 2008 for longest oil well drilled, one of the largest Stimulation Vessels assembled locally in Qatar, amongst several others.

Amit Singh, Managing Director of Schlumberger in Qatar, reflected on 70 years of excellence in the country, 'The foundation of our success in Qatar is largely due to the hard work, commitment and innovative mindset of our diverse team, all of whom are committed to delivering a safe and efficient operation for our customers. He also thanked all the Schlumberger employees, past and present, who have made this accomplishment possible.

Schlumberger maintains a strong commitment to community development and social responsibility.

In Qatar, Schlumberger partners with key schools and universities to encourage STEM learning and knowledge transfer to the Qatari youth. It also has several active programs with local universities to provide access to new technology for the benefit of student's learning and development.
