UK's May blasts former PM over referendum call

(MENAFN) Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair was criticized by the current Prime Minister of attempting to tamper with Brexit negotiations through demanding yet another referendum.

The UK's Prime Minister Theresa May described the demand as an "insult to the office he once held", stressing that MPs are not able to "abdicate responsibility" to deliver Brexit in carrying out another poll.

It comes after the former leader suggested that MPs might voice their support for a new poll if "none of the other options work."

Blair added: "far from being anti-democratic it would be the opposite, as indeed many senior figures in her party from past and present have been saying."
