Afghanistan- Key Taliban, Daesh Figures Killed in Air Raids


(MENAFN- Daily Outlook Afghanistan) JALALBAD/KABUL - Security officials on Saturday claimed several militants had been killed, including key Daesh and Taliban figures in eastern Nangarhar and Kunar provinces.
Attaullah Khogyani, the Nangarhar governor's spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that National Directorate of Security (NDS) conducted an operation in the Chongakhi area of Achin district.
He said a Daesh attack planner, a resident of Bajaur, was killed. Two Kalashnikovs, hand grenades, magazines, a wakie-talkie and ammunition were seized by the NDS personnel.
In neighbouring Kunar province, at least 38 Taliban insurgents were killed, including a commander from Pakistan and militants from Uzbekistan, an official in Kabul said.
According to the source, important members of the group named Amir Mawia, Ghazni and Ghazi were among the dead. The Ministry of Defense said security forces conducted air and ground operations in Shaltan district.
However, Taliban said civilians had suffered casualties during the Kunar raid. (Pajhwok)
