Australia opening batsman Aaron Finch worked his way out to score a decent looking fifty in the first innings of the ongoing second Test match in Perth against India.
Finch, who was suffering from a poor run of form, needed to get some confidence.
And the player revealed that a pep talk with legend Ricky Ponting helped him sort out his technique.

Finch highlighted that a talk with Punter helped him sort his technique, which in turn saw him scoring a fifty.
"It (talking to Ponting) was really good because it was so simple. It was basically around covering my off stump and lining up slightly different my alignment and where I want to hit the ball," he said.

'It was good to have someone to chat to who's had to work through that and alignment and things like that. It wasn't anything I went out in the game with as such. It was more just moving my guard slightly further over," Finch said.
Punter had backed Finch as an opener

Punter had earlier stated that Finch's limited-overs application could aid him in Tests.
"He's (Finch) had a lot of success around the world, opening the batting in T20s and one day internationals - if he can go in with a similar mindset and not worry too much about opening the batting in a Test match. I'm sure he'll have some success.", said Ponting.

Aussie openers finally came good to steer the ship on Day 1 of the second Test. There was a wave of concern regarding the form of Finch in particular. But the limited-overs specialist struck a decent 105-ball 50.
