Afghan squad in Pakistan for hockey tournament


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Afghanistan€™s squad has arrived in Pakistan to participate in the week-long Hockey Series Open (HSO), the game€™s governing body said.

The event, which does not feature the host country, is scheduled to be held at the National Hockey Stadium in Lahore, the capital of Punjab province, from December 17 to 22.

Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Nepal and a team from Pakistan will take part in the tournament. Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Nepal are expected to reach in the country on December 15.

Pakistan will be featuring in the inaugural FIH Pro-League beginning from January 19. Instead the hosts will field a second-string side in the HSO and the matches they play will not be official games.
