Somalia receives Eritrean leader amid efforts to bolster ties


(MENAFN) Somalia received Eritrea's President Isaias Aferwki, who is making a trip in an effort to strengthen relations among both sides.

The Eritrean president landed on Thursday in Mogadishu, the Somali capital, along with a top delegation.

The Eritrean party, Villa Somalia unveiled, is looking to enter discussions in order to bolster the long-standing relations between Somalia and Eritrea.

The presidency confirmed that "the two heads of state will have bilateral discussions on areas of mutual benefit."

It further added that "Somalia and Eritrea share history underpinned by friendship, respect and partnership. Today marks a new era for our two nations' bilateral relations."
