(MENAFN) Deputy to provincial police chief Kamaludin Yawar declared that three militants, including a Taliban shadow district chief, have died in the northern Jawzjan province on Thursday.
Yawar confirmed: "Mullah Mukhlis who had served as shadow district chief for Faizabad district of Jawzjan province is among three insurgents killed in clash with security forces early today."
The official added that the battle erupted late Wednesday night after the militants stormed security checkpoints in Haider Abad area of Faizabad district, sparking a gunfight.
However, the militants escaped early Thursday morning after ditching three dead bodies behind including their commander Mullah Mukhlis.
