Oman- Emergency Management Centre of MoH meets, discusses plans


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The Emergency Management Centre of the Ministry of Health (MoH) on Monday organised the second meeting of the Health Emergency System under the patronage of H E Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Obaid al Sa'eedi, Minister of Health at Sundus Rotana Muscat.

A number of undersecretaries, representatives from the medical response and public health sector (civil, military and security), the directors general of health services along with the heads of emergency departments in various governorates, as well as senior MoH officials attended the meeting. The meeting aimed at stressing cooperation between elements of the Emergency Health System and familiarising the supporting authorities to the achievements made by the system over the past period.

In addition, the meeting also aimed to review the achievements of the MoH Emergency Management Centre and its tasks, especially during cyclone Mekunu which hit Dhofar and other northern governorates.

The meeting also reviewed the participation of the Royal Air Force of Oman in responding to Mekunu, as well as the participation of the medical team of the health emergency.

Dr Rashid bin Hamed al Badi, director of the Emergency Management Centre, pointed out that the importance of such meetings is to create a deep relationship between the concerned authorities, exchange the different experiences, review the achievements, ideas and challenges, as well as honour the outstanding members in this emergency system, which will be an incentive for the remaining staff to exert more efforts.

He added that the sultanate, during this year, witnessed exceptional climate conditions, therefore, the MoH competent authorities have extraordinarily prepared to confront the climate conditions. Dr Badi stressed the importance of training and qualifying all the cadres in the health sector for emergency cases. He added that training and qualification are the most important factors in raising the awareness level.
