Qatar Chamber and Palestinian Trade Council sign MoU

Doha: Qatar Chamber and Palestinian Trade Council signed an MoU to enhance cooperation between the private sector and partnerships between the companies of both countries.

This was revealed during a meeting hosted by the chamber yesterday with representatives of nine Palestinian companies specialised in food and agriculture in the presence of QC First Vice-

Chairman Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar and President of PALTRADE Arafat Asfour. Palestinian ambassador to Qatar Mounir Ghannam and QC Board Member Mohamed Al Obaidli attended the meeting.

Twar said that historic and firm relations link Qatar and Palestine, pointing to the Qatari support for Palestine and its people. He stressed Qatar's continuing support to the Palestinian issue in all Arab, regional and global conferences.

He said: 'Qatar is keen to help Palestine through providing finance to social, economic and health projects especially in Gaza Strip. Qatar has established many infrastructure and residential projects as well as many projects in agriculture and construction that created thousands of job opportunities, he added. He said both sides have signed many MoUs and agreements to enhance cooperation in various fields, affirming that there is a large Palestinian community living in Qatar and contributing to its renaissance.

Arafat Asfour said that the two countries trade exchange reached annually 30 million of dollars. He expressed his hope the meeting would help in establishing trade alliances and partnerships between Qatari and Palestinian companies.

The Palestinian products are of high quality and reasonable prices. The council aims to promote these products and deepen cooperation between Palestinian companies and their counterparts from world countries, he added.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian ambassador congratulated Qatar's leadership and people on the National Day December 18. He expressed his gratitude to Qatar for its continuous support for Palestine. He noted that both countries enjoy firm and strong relations, not affected by any obstacles or challenges.
