Amman, Dec. 12 (Petra) -- Director of the Health Insurance Department, Elham Khreisat, said expanding the health insurance coverage is at the top of the department's priorities. It aims to include 120,000 Jordanian under the health insurance coverage within the next two years.

The targeted population that will be included in the health insurance coverage are families whose income ranges between JD300 and 350, Khreisat told Petra.

Around JD18 million will be allocated to cover the expense to carry out this project, Khreisat said, adding that the mechanism for eligibility to benefit from it will be set and promulgated once finalized.

The percentage of included Jordanians in the health insurance coverage is 73 percent and is expected to reach 80 percent by the end of 2020.
