Brussels, Dec.12 (Petra) - His Majesty King Abdullah II met with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini on Wednesday in Brussels on relations between Jordan and the European Union and opportunities to expand them in various fields.
Mogherini said the EU sees Jordan as a key partner and appreciates its great role in achieving peace and enhancing security and stability in the Middle East.
The meeting also dealt with the EU's support for Jordan to enable it to face challenges posed by the region's crises, as His Majesty expressed his appreciation for this support.
The importance of coordination and consultation between Jordan and the bloc on various issues of common concern was also emphasized.
King Abdullah highlighted the importance of the conference which will be held in London next year to support the economy and investments in Jordan and the Brussels third conference on supporting the future of Syria and the region in April.
The meeting reviewed regional issues including the peace process between the Palestinians and Israelis and the need to intensify international efforts to re-launch serious and effective negotiations between the two sides on the basis of a two-state solution, leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
