Amman, Dec. 12 (Petra) - Civil Defense Directorate (CDD) received Wednesday 145 ambulances from the Swiss Ministry of Economic Affairs in the framework of the Swiss project to develop the CDD's ambulance services.
At the ceremony, which was attended by the Director General of CDD, Major Gen. Mustafa Al-Bazai'a and Deputy Swiss Ambassador to Amman, Andreas Huber, the CDD's director of planning, said this project is the result of the joint efforts and close relations between the Jordanian and Swiss governments emanating from the wise visions of the leadership of the two friendly countries.
This grant will develop ambulance services in the CDD to an advanced level through an integrated action plan based on providing specialized ambulance vehicles and advanced equipment, offering financial and technical support as well as training and rehabilitation for the CDD's cadres working in this domain, the CDD official pointed out.
Jordan faces many challenges related to the continuous population growth, which calls for increasing the demand for public services, especially emergency health services. This project comes as a priority aimed at improving the quality of the health and ambulance system in the Kingdom, Huber said.
Daniel Munby, director of the Swiss project, said the Swiss government is ready to move forward to strengthen the civil defense capabilities in various fields, and to contribute to the achievement of its noble human mission based on the safety of life and the preservation of property from various dangers.
