S. Sudan sees better living condition thanks to UNMISS

(MENAFN) South Sudan's living conditions are being improved through the number of initiatives the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) launched, including offering clean water and education.

The UNMISS has been making efforts since 2011 to provide South Sudanese communities with better services, such as health care.

The UNMISS spent in six years over USD7.5 million to launch around 140 projects in the country to provide security to people and create sustainable peace, stated its special representative of the secretary general and head David Shearer.

Shearer stated: "these projects make an immediate impact by improving living conditions so that those who have been displaced by conflict can return home and by building new infrastructure in communities to bring people together in the pursuit of peace."
