Australian inmate gives birth alone "at high risk"

(MENAFN) A woman in Australia had reportedly unwillingly given birth alone in a closed jail cell in a "degrading and high risk" incident.

The woman, named only Amy, had informed staff two hours earlier that she thought she might be in labour.

There were no complexities at the birth.

The March incident was in a maximum security cell in Western Australia's only women's jail.
