Thai policeman surrenders after fatally shooting Frenchman


(MENAFN) A Thai police officer has been detained on charge of murdering a Frenchman after a row in Sukhumvit area of Thailand's Bangkok.

Immigration Bureau Commissioner Surachate Hakparn confirmed that the killer policeman, named Warrant Officer Kantapong Huadsri, belonging to Lumpini police station, had gunned down the French national, only named as Malik, aged 35, in the head at a shophouse in Sukhumvit 13 area of Watthana district on Tuesday night.

The commissioner added that the two of them had been involved in a fistfight at an inn in the neighborhood soon before the policeman followed the Frenchman to his place and shot him dead with his gun in the presence of the victim's girlfriend.

The police warrant officer surrendered at Lumpini police station and confessed to the murder charge.
