(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) To mark the Year of Zayed, Ajman Police officials have written the world's biggest letter to the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The letter is being carried by a huge truck all across the emirates.
It has been signed by Major-General Sheikh Sultan bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of the Ajman Police, and a number of top police officers and individuals.
Speaking to Khaleej Times, Maj-Gen Al Nuaimi said the letter of love and loyalty was part of a series of activities to celebrate the Year of Zayed and honour the founding father's achievements and vision.
"He (Zayed) is a role model of every UAE citizen and resident, who practise his generosity and morals. We instill all his values in our children so that they follow his path in the future. Zayed was a man of love and compassion. So we must translate our great respect for him on the ground by continuing on the path of excellence and success and raising the name and flag of the country at international events," he said.
"The people of the UAE and its leaders have inherited his approach that had left a huge impact on society. They see his mark in every work that they do. It reflects their love, loyalty and gratitude to their father, leader, and the founder of the nation," Maj-Gen Al Nuaimi said.
He said that when the President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, announced that 2018 would be celebrated as 'The Year of Zayed' in the UAE, they knew it was going to be a "great year" for everyone to show their appreciation of Sheikh Zayed's life and legacy.
This year was an occasion to highlight the role of Sheikh Zayed in establishing and building the Union of the UAE, a country that has become a model for all countries, wishing to progress and prosper, he said. Maj-Gen Al Nuaimi added that 2018 was full of initiatives, programmes and activities that "highlighted the greatness of the late founder of the UAE".
Their projects focused on promoting Sheikh Zayed's role in the foundation of the country, spreading his principles and values globally, and recognising him as a symbol of patriotism, he said.
