Heavy fines for Kuwaitis, Asians caught uprooting plants, trees to feed livestock


(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY, Dec 11: Three citizens and three Asians were referred to the Environment Public Authority (EPA) after the environment police caught them in the act of uprooting Haloxylon plants, reports Al Rai daily.

This came after the Environment Police General Department prioritized the inspection of public areas in the past few days to monitor environmental irregularities and to help the encroachment removal teams from Kuwait Municipality in demolishing camping sites where violations were uncovered.

The environment police caught the three citizens uprooting plants and trees in different areas with the help of three Asian workers to use the plants for feeding sheep, bonfire in camping sites or to sell them.

Those arrested were referred to EPA which will imposed fine that may reach up to KD250 per person in case of reconciliation with the authority.

For repeat offenders and without reconciliation, the fi ne will reach up to KD5,000 in court.
