(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR: Taking notice of deliberately delaying sugarcane crushing
season, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mehmood Khan on Tuesday warned the
Sugar Mills owners to start sugarcane crushing season or else strict action
would be taken against them.
The chief minister said delaying the crushing season was a
tactic to force farmers to sell their crop at throw away prices, said media
reports.
The chief minister said that he would not allow the mills
owners to exploit the poor farmer and warned them if the sugar mills did not
start sugarcane crushing, the government would use the legal authority and take
over the mills and and start crushing through its own administrators.
He said that delay in crushing could create law and order
situation in the province. He said that the government would not compromise on
the rights of the farmers.
