Vietnam: 2 die, 3 missing in floods

(MENAFN) Local media revealed that two civilians have died as three more are uncounted for after a flood triggered by heavy downpour hit Vietnam's central region since the weekend.

Vietnam's Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control confirmed that two women, aged 59 and 35, have been pronounced dead in Quang Tri province, meanwhile, two men, aged 54 and 51, disappeared in Quang Nam province, alongside a 19-year-old man in Thua Thien Hue province.

The flood in the central region hit at least 4,600 houses, forcing 323 families out their homes, left losses of about 9,100 hectares of rice and roughly 920 hectares of other crops, and killed nearly 16,300 cattle and poultry.

It has affected more than 47.4 km of dykes and irrigation canals and at least 58.8 km of roads, and drowned about 490 hectares of aquaculture ponds.
