Yemen's food crisis worsens: UN

(MENAFN) The condition in Yemen is worsening as 42 percent more areas have appeared with grave lack of food this year.

Yemen is witnessing 152 of its 333 districts suffering from a phase-four disaster of the food crisis system, warned UN under-secretary-general for humanitarian affairs Mark Lowcock.

Under the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), 107 districts have been recorded with a phase-four food emergency last year.

"We plan to provide 12 million with food or money to buy food ... It compares with 8 million who we are reaching at the moment," Lowcock then assured.
