Syria blasts 'illegal' excavations in historic sites

(MENAFN) Syria denounced the excavations Turkey, France and the United States are carrying out in landmark spots within northern Syria.

SANA reported the Syrian Foreign Ministry to have slapped such excavations in the country as "illegal"

Manbij and Afrin in Aleppo province are where the excavations are being conducted, along with ancient locations in the northern cities of Idlib, Hasakah and Raqqa.

The ministry stressed: "these actions represent a new war crime added to the crimes committed against the Syrian people and the Syrian heritage."
