"Russia is fully responsible for human rights violations in the occupied territories as stated in the majority of the international documents adopted by reputable international organizations, including the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and others," reads the statement of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on the occasion of the Human Rights Day.
According to him, the brutal aggression of the Russian Federation 'has actually nullified the rights of Ukrainian citizens in Donbas and Crimea.
"Russia disregards the most important value of humanity - the right to life - as evidenced by terrible facts and sad statistics. Since the beginning of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, more than 10,000 people have been killed and more than 23,000 have been injured, according to the UN data," Poroshenko underscored, adding that more than 1.5 million residents of Crimea and Donbas have been forced to leave their homes as internally displaced persons.
The Head of State assured that the state authorities and active civil society would continue to collect evidence of Russia's crimes against Ukraine and Ukrainians, which would further supplement the evidence base in The Hague.
