Oman Lawyers Association signs pact to defend victims of human trafficking


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The National Committee for Combatting Human Trafficking and the Oman Lawyers Association (OLA) on Tuesday signed an agreement. The agreement allows the association to defend the victims of human trafficking for free.

The agreement was signed by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud al Busaidi, secretary general in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) and chairman of the National Committee for Combatting Human Trafficking, and Dr Mohammed al Zadjali, president, OLA and head of the Legal Committee at Majlis A'Shura.

Speaking to Muscat Daily, Dr Zadjali said, 'The agreement comes in accordance with Royal Decree 126/2008. We will cooperate with the Ministry of Social Development and MoFA. There are already cases in Dar al Wifaq centre of the Ministry of Social Development (MoSD) and we hope to close them as soon as possible.'

As per the agreement, the association will receive cases through MoSD and MoFA.
