Jordan- King meets with African officials over cooperation, countering terror


(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah, accompanied by HRH Crown Prince Hussein, on Sunday met with President of Rwanda Paul Kagame on the sidelines of the Aqaba meetings, and discussed means to enhance bilateral cooperation, including in the economic, investment and trade fields.

King Abdullah and Kagame, who is visiting Jordan for the first time, also discussed efforts to counter terrorism within a holistic approach, according to a Royal Court statement.

Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Adviser to His Majesty and Director of the Office of His Majesty Manar Dabbas attended the meeting.

The King also met with Deputy Prime Minister of Somalia Mahdi Mohamed Guled over bilateral ties and efforts to fight terrorism.

Dabbas attended the meeting.

The Aqaba meetings are a series of international meetings launched by His Majesty in 2015 to bolster security and military cooperation, coordination and the exchange of expertise among regional and international partners to counter terrorism.

This latest round of Aqaba meetings was focused on east Africa.
