Jordan- Workshop discusses eCO requirements at Agadir Agreement members states

Amman, December 5 (Petra)- The technical unit of the Agadir Agreement, in cooperation with the World Customs Organization (WCO) and the European Union (EU) on Wednesday organized a workshop in Casablancaa on electronic certificates of origin (eCO).

The workshop aimed at identifying the procedural requirements for the issuance of the eCO, measures taken to issue and verify eCO, as well as current practices and developments in this field, according to a press release issued by the unit today.

Fakhri Hazaimeh, the agreement's technical unit executive chief, said the eCO is a "sensitive" issue for the private sector and the customs authorities.

The issuance of the eCO is necessary to facilitate guaranteed trade to shun data inaccuracy and avoid counterfeiting, he pointed out.
