Algeria's NLF chief Mouad Bouchareb is currently conducting comprehensive talks on the matter with former party leaders.

During a meeting with former party leader Abdelaziz Belkhadem, the NLF chief addressed partisan matters, along with a potential of the return of exiled leaders to the party's ranks.

According to a top leader, Asharq Al-Awsat was told that "Bouchareb is pushing for entering elections with a unified strong front backing the FNL candidate."

The top leader added: "the FNL will back any candidate put forth by the leadership, whether it be Bouteflika or anyone else."
