Doha: Birla Public School organised a two-day workshop for teachers and academic leaders from December 1 to 2 at Abu Hamour Campus.
First day workshop was on 'Magical Classrooms, in the words of Mr. A P Sharma, Principal. It was led by a prestigious Resource person, Mr. Ashok Kumar Pandey, Principal of Ahlcon International School, New Delhi and Governing Council Member of CBSE.
Through a digital presentation, Mr. Pandey highlighted the qualities of a tech-savvy teacher who, used technology to create interest in the subject. He specified that smart boards cannot replace teachers but teachers need to be smart in being at par with the fast developing tech world.
Lifelong learning and positive inquisitiveness keep the teacher young and capable to meet the changing needs of the current and future generation. Mission, vision and values are the constant pillars of pedagogy but they should be interestingly conveyed to the students through inter-dependent relationships. A student will learn only if he likes the teacher, so healthy, conducive atmosphere is a primary foundation for magical classrooms.
Ashok Pandey also conducted a seminar for Science teachers of grade I to grade XII. He stressed that science teaching should focus the problems of the society. Teachers should look for a potential scientist hidden in every student. Teachers should encourage and model the skills of scientific inquiry as well as the curiosity openness to new ideas and data and skepticism that characterize science. As an activity a model lesson plan was prepared by the teachers in groups. The spectrum of teaching includes whom-where-how you are teaching. He concluded the second session by enforcing the role of a teacher as a value-facilitator.
Second day workshop was On Being A Leader ‘Inspire by Doing', became the mantra among senior leadership team, comprising of Vice Principals, Headmistresses, Heads of Departments, Academic and Year Coordinators of Birla Public School, after attending the workshop conducted on December 2, in the school auditorium, by Ashok Pandey, Principal Ahlcon International School, New Delhi. He initiated fun activities to reveal the inner complexities of management and leadership.
Moreover, the sessions designated clearly the various aspects of leading a team, aspiring for success, achieving fixed goals and bridging the gap between idealism and reality. Defining organisational success as the incorporation of an individual into a working web of an enterprising team and delineating specific steps towards it was one of the highlights of the sessions. He concluded the workshop with the message that an organisation develops only when the individual skills of every worker is enhanced and appreciated. The attendees were highly gratified and motivated through the concise digital presentations and his keen wisdom.
