Iraq eyes youth coop. with Kuwait


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BAGHDAD, Dec 2 (KUNA) -- Iraqi Minister of Youth and Sports Ahmad Al-Obeidi said on Sunday his country is willing to bolster cooperation with Kuwait in the realms of youth and sports.
"Iraq has a good relationship with Kuwait due to social and historical bonds between both countries," the minister was quoted in a statement posted by his ministry after meeting Kuwaiti Ambassador in Baghdad Salem Al-Zamanan.
He underscored Iraq's eagerness to put in place a bilateral cooperation agreement in the fields of youth and sports.
He pointed out Baghdad's joint programs with Arab neighbors to fight youth extremism by security, ideological and economic means.
The Iraqi minister uncovered that Baghdad would play host to a friendly international championship involving all games at the advent of next year.
On his part, the Kuwaiti ambassador congratulated the new Iraqi minister of youth and sports on having been named as such, wishing him the best of luck and Iraq security, progress and stability. (end) ahh.mt
