HONOLULU, Nov. 29, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Veterans met with Hawaiian Airlines to learn about commercial airline job opportunities available to them through Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) career counseling services.

Veterans learn about job commercial airline job opportunities through Wounded Warrior Project event

The event, organized through WWP's Warriors to Work®, brought together more than 10 airline representatives – many of them veterans themselves – to meet with WWP warriors. Veterans received information on current job openings; learned how to market their specific military experience to match airline industry job requirements; and performed mock interviews to prepare for pursuing open positions.

"Meeting military veterans already employed by Hawaiian Airlines was very encouraging," said National Guard veteran, Liz Sabog. "Hearing their personal tips and pointers on how they became employees gave us all an extra bit of confidence."

Warriors mentioned how valuable it was to have an open and honest conversation about working in the airline industry, and several said they planned on applying for open positions.

"The dialogue we were able to have with the representatives helped us gain a real-world understanding of what these jobs entail," said Liz. "We could ask honest questions without the fear or anxiety that comes with an official interview."

WWP works with employers across the country to connect them with qualified candidates, provide information about combat-related injuries, facilitate productive onboarding processes, and develop long-lasting relationships throughout the life cycle of employment.

"Wounded Warrior Project allowed us direct access to qualified members of our armed services with highly sought-after experience," said Audrey Walicek, program manager, employment compliance, Hawaiian Airlines. "Not only did we get to meet candidates personally and identify positions that may be a good fit for them, but the warriors got a feel for our company and the opportunity to network with our leaders and recruiters."

All career counseling services are offered free of charge to injured veterans and employers, connecting uniquely qualified candidates with companies that can put their skills to use.
