(MENAFN) An Iranian border protector soldier was murdered in clashes with gangsters near border with Iraq, according to the official IRNA news agency on Wednesday.
The fights occurred in the western city of Baneh when irregular infiltrators tried to escape border into the country, said Hossein Khosh Eqbal, the deputy chief of political, security and social affairs in Iran's western province of Kurdistan.
He emphasized a border guard was wounded in the clashes and then passed away of his injuries.
According to Khosh Eqbal, one gangster was murdered while the others escaped the
scene unharmed.
