UAE participates in meeting of 'Executive Office of the Arab Ministerial Council of Electricity' in Cairo

CAIRO, 22nd November, 2018 (WAM) -- The UAE participated in the 34th meeting of the Executive Office of the Arab Ministerial Council of Electricity, which was held today in Cairo.

The UAE delegation was led by Dr. Mattar Hamed Al Niyadi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Industry.

The meeting was chaired by Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy of Egypt, and was attended by delegations from the office's member countries, most notably Egypt, the UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Jordan, Tunisia, Morocco and Libya, as well as relevant regional and international organisations.

The meeting discussed various topics on its agenda, including the 'Electricity Arab Joint Market', a report on the progress of the Electricity Experts Committee of Arab Countries on the peaceful use of nuclear energy, as well as supporting the manufacturing of electrical equipment to produce, transport and distribute electricity in Arab countries.

The 'Arab Strategy for Sustainable Energy 2030' was also discussed, as well as the monitoring of joint topics related to the cooperation between the office's member countries with regional and international organisations in the area of energy, including their cooperation with China and India.
