Iraq: 15 IS militants die in air attacks


(MENAFN) The Iraqi military declared that 15 Islamic State (IS) militants have died as two of their hideouts were devastated in Iraq's northern central province of Salahudin.

Spokesman of the Iraqi Joint Operations Command, Yahya Rasoul confirmed: "During a search operation in Gan'ous area near the town of Shirqat, some 280 km north of Baghdad, the security forces destroyed two IS hideouts and killed 15 IS militants inside a trench."

The Iraqi air attacks have gunned down five IS militants and destructed their hideouts earlier in the day in the village of Albu Sulaibi near the border of the provinces of Salahudin and Diyala.

The Iraqi forces, supported by Iraqi air force, are conducting ongoing reconnaissance and surveillance in various areas in central Iraq to tackle the extremist IS militants and devastate their locations.
