KUWAIT CITY, Nov 20, (KUNA): Cybersecurity experts from the region and beyond convened in Kuwait on Tuesday for a press conference and exhibition over the protection of digital systems in the telecommunications industry.

The one-day event, sponsored by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Anas Al-Saleh, aims to raise awareness over internet security. Kuwait's Central Agency for Information Technology is urging youngsters to be increasingly wary of the rise in internet crime, which poses a grave threat to national security, its Director General Qusai Al-Shatti told KUNA. He said the conference is an opportunity for the participants to get acquainted with the most serious cyber threats, emphasizing that cybersecurity forms an integral component of national security plans.

Kuwait's Ministry of Interior continues to employ the most cutting-edge technology to keep hacking and other forms of cyber attacks at bay, the ministry's deputy director general for information systems, Tariq Al-Dousari, explained. He said that initiatives such as the press conference push the ministry closer to its goal of establishing a foolproof cybersecurity strategy.
