(MENAFN- UkrinForm) A Ukrainian delegation has met with representatives of the Ukrainian community in Halifax, Canada, First Deputy Chairwoman of the Verkhovna Rada Iryna Gerashchenko has reported on Facebook.
"I was particularly pleased to meet a great friend of Ukraine, President of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress Paul Grod. I thanked the Ukrainian diaspora for their incredible work on restoring the historical memory of the terrible tragedy of the Holodomor, as well as our joint efforts to spread information around the world about an act of genocide against the Ukrainian people," Gerashchenko wrote.
She also noted that the parties had discussed the situation on the frontline in Ukraine and exchanged views on the free trade area with Canada.
"Canadian friends noted that Ukraine-Canada parliamentary friendship groups can do more to strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries. I invited our Canadian friends to visit Ukraine next year to monitor the presidential election," Gerashchenko wrote.
