(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ANKARA, Nov 18 (KUNA) -- Turkey Sunday warned an Exxon Mobil vessel against carrying out oil and gas exploration operations in east of the Mediterranean.
"Drilling operations by Exxon Mobil will not contribute to regional stability," Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hami Aksoy said in a statement.
Activities by the American vessel near Cyprus "can harm delicate affairs with regards to the settlement of conflict in the island and surrounding areas," he said.
Aksoy said Turkey would continue oil and gas explorations in the continental shelf, including off Northern Cyprus.
Ankara issued many warnings against unilateral off-shore explorations in east of Mediterranean due to tension between Turkey on one side and Greece and Cyprus on the other. (end) rs.bs
